Bringing Authentic Italian Cuisine to Hobart Since 1994

Our Story

In 1994, Angelo Fraraccio opened his Italian restaurant in the heart of Battery Point, bringing authentic, fresh pizza and pasta to the local community. With a passion for traditional Italian cuisine and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Angelo quickly earned a loyal following. In 2003, he was joined by his great business partner Marco Caporelli, and together they built a strong foundation for what would become a beloved family-run establishment. Head chefs Sam Holmes and Roberto Caporelli-who are also part owners-bring creativity and consistency to the kitchen, making this a dynamic team that has captured the hearts and palates of both local and visitors alike. Now a true family business, the next generation has joined the team, continuing the legacy and values that have made the restaurant a cornerstone of the Battery Point dining scene.

Freshness is Key – Pasta Made Daily

One of Da Angelo’s proudest traditions is its daily fresh pasta, Fettuccine , Ravioli, Gnocchi and Maccaroni. The sauces are simmered slowly, the fillings are generous, and every dish reflects the kitchen’s dedication to tradition. This commitment to freshness sets Da Angelo apart from many others in the Hobart dining scene.

Absolutely fabulous dinner with friends. The food was old school Italian; fresh, honest and tasty. The staff were kind enough to seat us on a larger table when they saw we were sharing our dishes. We weren’t rushed at all and the manager (or owner?) checked in on us twice. I will definitely return and recommend to friends visiting Hobart.

Quite possibly the best Italian in Australia. Our waiter, Miriam, was an absolute delight, as well as every staff member who we came across, ensuring we were happy and looked after. The food was exquisite, especially the Tiramisu we took home. It all tasted beautifully fresh and made with love. A MUST do in Hobart. 5 stars all round, no notes.

Had dinner at Da Angelo Ristorante with a big group and the food was so good. I had the carbonara and it was absolutely delicious. Everyone loved their meals and the service was great too. Would definitely go back next time I’m in town.

As tourists passing by, we didn’t make a reservation, but luckily we were still offered a table – something we truly appreciated. This Italian restaurant in Hobart was good. We tried the pizza and pasta – everything was delicious and satisfying. Definitely give this place a try if you’re visiting Tasmania!
